Company Overview
MISSION OF HUMANE ANIMAL RESCUE
To provide temporary shelter, food, medical attention, and comfort to all abandoned, neglected and injured animals brought to us by the community; to restore lost animals to their owners or seek new homes for them, and to educate the public about the humane care of animals with a goal of reducing overpopulation.
Company History
Humane Animal Rescue is a recently merged organization with 3 locations: 2 shelters with clinics and a Wildlife Center run by licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialists.
The shelters are both open door, committed to providing the animals and people of the community with high quality care including veterinary services. Providing excellent medical and surgical care for the roughly 18,000 animals who come through our shelter annually is essential to Humane Animal Rescue’s mission. We also occasionally provide veterinary care to wildlife brought in to the Wildlife Center.
The East End location recently moved into a state-of-the-art facility that provides an outstanding environment for our animals. We have a digital X-ray unit and in-house blood testing and will continue to operate a low-cost outpatient clinic and provide routine surgery services for the public. This is in addition to caring for animals brought to our shelter by the public and through the City of Pittsburgh Animal Control officers.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a veterinarian who is interested in providing veterinary care to shelter animals, as well as low cost care to our community pets.
